Peterborough County OPP – Impaired Driver Charged After Collision

Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended a motor vehicle collision on Nathaway Drive on Tuesday, April 14, 2020. Witnesses reported that a vehicle struck a yellow pole on the walking path at approximately 7:00am. The uninjured driver was found to be under the influence of drugs.

Tyler FARRELL (age 28) of Cobourg, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

· Operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs

· Race a motor vehicle-stunt

The accused had their vehicle impounded for seven days and driver’s licence suspended for 90 days.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on June 23, 2020.

The Peterborough County OPP reminds motorists to plan ahead when consuming drugs. Use a designated driver, cab, public transit, or stay overnight. Any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgements.
