Breaking News – Video – Attempted Murder Suspect Captured In Dramatic Takedown In Campbellford

Today’s Northumberland has confirmed that one person wanted for attempted murder was captured in a dramatic takedown in Campbellford on Saturday, April 11, 2020.

Members of the OPP Tactics Response Unit, Canine Unit, Northumberland OPP Crime Unit and Northumberland OPP officers were involved in the arrest of Andrew Hibbert who was wanted on a Canada wide warrant for in connection with a shooting victim who was dropped off at Northumberland Hills Hospital on March 24, 2020.

Hibbert was wanted for attempt to commit murder using a firearm, robbery using a firearm and possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose.

Hibbert was in a red pickup that was involved in a high risk take down on the bridge over the Trent River in downtown Campbellford at approximately 3:30 p.m. Two other people were also taken into custody.

Witnesses said that rubber projectiles possibly from a Arwen gun which is non-lethal may have been used in the arrest.

The vehicle with broken drivers side windshield was taken away by a tow truck while heavily armed officers stood by on the bridge.

There is no word on whether Kimroy Peters who was also wanted for the same charges was arrested.

Today’s Northumberland will update when information becomes available.
