HKPR District Health Unit – COVID-19 Update Concerning Cases

The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit today can confirm there have been a total of nine COVID-19-related deaths at the Pinecrest Nursing Home in Bobcaygeon since an outbreak was declared at the facility on March 18.

The Health Unit issued a media release on March 26 and reported that two epidemiologically-linked residents had died. It was also reported that 14 staff had been confirmed positive for COVID-19 and four staff had tested negative.

As of today, 24 staff have been confirmed positive for COVID. Test results are pending for 10 staff and six staff have tested negative.

Since the March 26 release, seven additional residents have died.

Total number of confirmed cases in Health Unit area are as follows:

Northumberland County – 8 confirmed cases

City of Kawartha Lakes – 33 confirmed cases – 27 of which are related to Pinecrest Nursing Home

Haliburton County – no cases

Outbreaks – 1 – Pinecrest Nursing Home

Deaths – 11 – nine residents of Pinecrest Nursing Home; two deaths in people who did not live at Pinecrest, but one of those cases related to Pinecrest Nursing Home
