Central Hastings OPP – Fatal Collision Closes Highway 7

(TWEED, ON) – Just after 10:30 a.m. on March 9, 2020 officers of the Central Hastings Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and other emergency crews responded to a report of a two vehicle collision on Highway 7, just west of highway 37 in the Municipality of Tweed.

A head on collision occurred between a car and a pickup truck. Both vehicles only had one occupant. The driver of the car sustained serious life threatening injuries and was air lifted to hospital by Air Ornge. Sadly that driver was later pronounced deceased at Hospital. The driver of the pickup truck sustained undermined injuries and was transported to hospital by Hastings Quinte Paramedic Services.

The roadway remains closed while OPP Technical Collision Investigation (TCI) team and OPP Collision Reconstructionist. The investigation remains ongoing by Central Hastings OPP and Highway 7 remains closed at Hwy 37 in Tweed and St Lawrence Street in Madoc.
