Peterborough County OPP – Driver Charged with Drug and Weapons Offences

A month long investigation led by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Peterborough County Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) resulted in an arrest yesterday morning.

At approximately 10:00am, a traffic stop was initiated by CSCU and Central Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) members. Police seized drugs, a loaded handgun, Canadian currency, cell phones, digital scales and laptop computers from the vehicle.

Kirkland WILLIAMS (age 25) of Ajax, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking-heroin

Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-fentanyl

Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-cocaine

Possession of property obtained by crime-under $5000

Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose

Unauthorized possession of weapon

Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm/ammunition

Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was firearm

Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition

Carrying concealed weapon

Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm

Fail to comply with recognizance

The value of the seized drugs is estimated at approximately $15,000.

The accused was held in custody and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough later today.
