On Thursday December 19, 2019 shortly after 8:00 pm officers from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Northumberland EMS and the Hamilton Township Fire Department responded to a serious two vehicle collision on County Road 2 between Apple Orchard Road and Lovshin Road just west of the town of Cobourg.

The collision involved a white Chrysler passenger van that was travelling westbound and a black Chevrolet SUV that was travelling eastbound.
