Piccini Announces Significant Funding Investment for Upgrades to Campbellford Hospital

Ontario is investing in the health and safety of patients as it addresses urgent upgrades, repairs and maintenance at 131 hospitals across the province.

Campbellford Memorial hospital (CMH) will be receiving $960,000 in funding this year through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund (HIRF). This funding will support CMH in addressing much needed infrastructure renewal activities.

“This significant investment at Campbellford Memorial Hospital will ensure essential improvements that will support front-line workers in their continued delivery of excellent care to their patients,” said David Piccini, MPP for Northumberland-Peterborough South. “My commitment to Campbellford Memorial Hospital and the community of Trent Hills has been unwavering since day one. I will continue to work with the community to meet growing health care needs.”

This funding is part of our government’s $175 million investment in infrastructure projects at hospitals across Ontario. As the government continues to work towards bringing Ontario’s world class health care system into the 21st century, this funding will help hospitals such as CMH to address urgent issues.

“Campbellford Memorial Hospital is pleased to receive the government’s approval of this Exceptional Circumstances Grant to allow the hospital to undertake needed improvements to the building’s safety and security systems,” stated Paul Nichols, Chair of Campbellford Memorial Hospital’s Board of Directors. “The completion of these improvements will enhance the safety and security of staff, volunteers, visitors and most importantly patients. Campbellford Memorial Hospital is committed to maintaining and enhancing the safety and security of the hospital while we continue to provide patient care in our existing facilities and while we plan for the future”.

“Campbellford Memorial Hospital needs to continue to invest in the infrastructure of the current hospital facility in order to continue to provide the highest level of care and safety to patients and staff,” added Varouj Eskedjian, President and CEO of the Hospital.

The Government of Ontario has a plan to build a connected and sustainable public health care system centred around the needs of patients, including investing $27 billion over 10 years in hospital infrastructure projects.

Maintaining hospital infrastructure is one more example of how the province is working towards ensuring that Ontarians have the health care services they can depend on while building the capacity we need to end hallway health care.

“This infrastructure investment will help ensure that hospitals across Ontario are able to make the needed upgrades and improvements, so patients and families have access to the reliable, quality care they expect and deserve,” stated Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health.

QUICK FACTS
· Ontario is investing $175 million in repairs and upgrades to 131 hospitals this year through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund.

· In addition, Ontario is investing $7.2 million to address ongoing urgent and/or emergent infrastructure renewal needs for community health service providers who met specific criteria on a priority basis, through the Community Infrastructure Renewal Fund.
