Breaking News – Northumberland OPP Festive RIDE Results In Large Seizure of Marijuana

A Festive RIDE by Northumberland OPP yielded a large quantity of marijuana on Thursday, November 28, 2019.

Northumberland OPP officers were conducting a RIDE on County Road 10 in the area of Canton, north of Port Hope when a northbound vehicle with a large quantity of bagged marijuana stopped at the RIDE at approximately 4:45 p.m.

Police immediately saw the marijuana in the back seat and one person from Port Hope was arrested and his vehicle towed to the Northumberland OPP detachment in Cobourg for further examination.

Approximately 28 bags weighing in at approximately 29 pounds was seized.

The suspect was also wanted on a warrant.

 

NORTHUMBERLAND OPP FESTIVE RIDE LEADS TO DRUG SEIZURE

  (PORT HOPE, ON) – On Thursday November 28, 2019 members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Festive RIDE program on County Rd 10 in the Municipality of Port Hope. Shortly after setting up their RIDE program, officers entered into a drug investigation with a driver.

Police arrested the driver and seized quantities of suspected Cannabis

Shun Guan ZHUO (age 57), of Port Hope, Ontario, was arrested and charged with the following offences under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act:

  •  Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling
  • Possession of over 30g dried cannabis
  • Possession of illicit cannabis
  • Possession for the purpose of distributing

 

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on January 15, 2020.
