Port Hope Police – Drug Charges, Man Charged with Assaulting Roommate, Break and Enter

Drug Charges
A 45 year old Newcastle man is facing drug charges after Port Hope Police were called to a suspicious persons call in the Municipality’s west end. On the 21 st of October shortly after 10:30pm Police investigated 3 men who were seen loading a snow mobile into the back of a pick-up truck of a residence they do not live. During the investigation Police Officers discovered a bag that contained what Police believe to be illicit drugs. Jeremy WILSDON is charged with Possession of schedule two and 5 substance, possession of a schedule two substance for the purposes of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime. He was held in custody pending a show cause hearing. The matter of the snow mobile is still under investigation.

Man Allegedly Assaulted by Roommate
A 64 year old man was arrested Sunday morning as a result of an investigation that began earlier Sunday Morning. On the 27 th of October shortly after 4:00am Port Hope Police were called to an apartment complex in the Municipality’s west end. There Police spoke the 79 year old victim who reported he was assaulted by his roommate. He advised he was sleeping when the roommate came into his room and put a pillow over his face. A short struggle ensued and the roommate left the apartment taking the victim’s vehicle. The victim was taken to NHH via ambulance for cautionary reasons to be examined. The man returned to the apartment and was sleeping when officers located him there shortly before 9:00am. He was subsequently arrested and is facing charges of assault with a weapon and taking a motor vehicle without owner’s consent. He appears on court later in November.

Alarm Dissuades Break and Enter Suspects
On the 28 th of October shortly before 1:00am Port Hope Police officers were dispatched to A-Plus 1 Convenience located in the Wellington Street and Phillips Road area as a result of an alarm. Police were on scene minutes later and discovered the front door had been force. Investigation revealed two individuals wearing balaclavas forced entry into the store but left soon after empty handed as the alarm was activated. Witnesses in the area report a dark vehicle, possibly a SUV, was seen fleeing the area by McDonalds. Port Hope Police are continuing the investigation.
