Breaking News – Port Hope Police Investigate Another Break-In

In Police Blotter

Port Hope Police are investigating after a break-in took place on Thursday, September 26, 2019.

The front glass door of Basil’s Market & Deli on Ridout Street was smashed and it’s believed entry was gained to the business.

Police investigated and along with the owner determined they believe that nothing was taken.

The break-in is very similar to four break-ins and one attempted break-in that occurred yesterday in Cobourg and Port Hope.

During yesterday’s crime spree it’s believed at least one of the suspects was cut as there was blood found inside and outside the businesses.
A cash drawer from yesterday’s Port Hope break-in was located in the backyard of a home on Otto Driver directly behind Motel 401 on Division Street in Cobourg.

Police are investigating surveillance cameras located in at least one of the businesses and are requesting assistance from any business or individual with recording devices in these areas to check for potentially suspect behaviour from this time period.

If anyone has any information in these matters including CCTV images, please contact Cobourg Police at 905-372-6821 or CrimeStoppers, Toll Free: 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS)
