Support Your Community at Inner Wheel’s Giant Garage Sale

In Upcoming Events

By Cecilia Nasmith/Today’s Northumberland
If you’re a fan of garage sales, the Inner Wheel of Cobourg is inviting you to the big blow-out they have planned for Oct. 19 and 20 – a chance to find some major bargains and to see those dollars reinvested in your local community.

This amazing group has organized many fundraisers in the past, such as popular house and garden tours, and even a Victoria Hall event where antique pros were available to assess items of interest.

Inner Wheel members also lend a hand at big Rotary events like the Waterfront Festival and Sportsman’s Night. But their fundraising has allowed them to support local community projects as well – to the tune of $5,000 last year.

This is their first garage sale, but they hope to make it an annual event.

Members and friends have donated jewelry, furniture, children’s and babies’ items, tools, pet items and more, all offered on a cash-and-carry basis.

The sale takes place at Unit 4, 650 Victoria St. (east off Ontario Street north of the VIA railroad tracks). Hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 19 and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 20.

Anyone with good-quality saleable items that could be donated (no electronics, clothing or shoes, please) can contact Petra Hartwig for more information (905-269-0464 or windsong0@hotmail.com).
