Vehicle Fire Turns Out To Be Hay For Cobourg Fire Department

Cobourg Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire on Workman Road, just south of Elgin Street East in Cobourg on Thursday, August 29, 2019 shortly after 4 p.m.

A farmer was round baling straw when he looked back from the tractor and saw smoke from the baler. Realizing the hay was on fire, he opened gate and dumped the bale of hay in the field and called the fire department.

There was no damage to the hay baler or tractor because of the early detection of the fire.

One round bale of hay was destroyed.
