Cobourg Police – Woman Arrested for Fraud

Cobourg Police investigated a theft regarding a debit card and its unauthorized use at an ATM over a two-week period where over $13,000.00 was stolen.

As a result of the investigation on August 29, 2019, 41-year-old Cobourg resident Susan Mikus was arrested and charged with the following offences:

1. Fraud under $5,000.00 x13 contrary to section380(1)(b) of the Criminal Code

2. Possession of Property obtained by Crime Under $5,000.00 x13 contrary to section 355(b) of the Criminal Code

3. Unauthorized use of Credit Card data x13 contrary to sec. 342(3) of the Criminal Code

Susan Mikus was released from custody on a Promise to Appear and an Officer in Charge Undertaking with a future court date.

The Cobourg Police Service reminds people the importance of protecting their PIN when at bank machines, stores and gas stations. Cobourg police also encourages everyone to report any suspicious or criminal activity.
