Seven People Transported To Hospital Following Collision On Highway 401 At Cobourg

Seven people were transported to hospital with minor injuries following a collision on Highway 401 at Cobourg on Saturday, August 17, 2019.

Emergency services including Cobourg Fire Department, Hamilton Township Fire Department, Northumberland County Paramedics and Northumberland OPP were dispatched at approximately 10:45 a.m. after a van and transport collided in the westbound lanes of Highway 401 at the Ontario Street overpass at Cobourg.

The van came to a stop on the left lane of the highway and the transport pulled over to the shoulder of the highway.

Traffic was backed up for kilometres while emergency services tried to get to the scene using the shoulder of the highway.

Two adults and five children were transported to hospital with what are believed to be minor injuries.

Police are investigating if all of the occupants inside the van were wearing seatbelts.
