Update – Northumberland OPP Charge Two Men In Connection With Illegal Dumping

(ALNWICK-HALDIMAND TOWNSHIP, ON) – Two local men are facing charges as a result of an investigation that was conducted by members from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) after the illegal dumping of roofing shingles was reported on August 12, 2019.

The owner of farmland located on Brookside Road contacted police after a load of shingles was found to have been dumped in his soybean field.

A silver coloured pick-up truck towing a black tandem axle trailer were observed exiting the driveway that led to the soybean field at approximately 11:30 am. The owner of the property was contacted moments later when the shingles were discovered.

Danny VITALI (age 40) of Cobourg, Ontario and Justin Kenneth Todd YOUNG (age 30) of Hamilton Township, Ontario have been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with Mischief under $5,000.

Both of the accused were released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on September 25, 2019.

The Ontario Ministry of the Environment have been contacted and will be looking further into the incident.
