Motor Vehicle Collision Takes Out Hydro Pole In Cobourg

In Police Blotter

Shortly after midnight on July 30, 2019 emergency crews in Cobourg were dispatched to Ontario Street, just south of University Avenue West for a motor vehicle collision.

It appears a vehicle was travelling southbound on Ontario Street when it went through the intersection, mounted the sidewalk on the east side, struck and broke a hydro pole along with a parked vehicle in a driveway before coming to a stop.

Lines from the pole were across the area and car, so the driver stayed in the vehicle until a hydro crew arrived on scene and safety removed the lines.

Cobourg Police along with the Cobourg Fire Department blocked the roadway.

The driver was taken to hospital by Northumberland County Paramedics. No word on charges.
