Durham Police – Shotgun Seized in Pickering Park

A Pickering male was charged after a shotgun was located inside his backpack while he was walking through a public park.

On Wednesday, July 17, 2019, just before 11 a.m., officers received information about a male with a possible weapon in his backpack in the Brock Road/Finch Avenue area of Pickering. Officers located the male walking in Brock Ridge Community Park. The male cooperated when approached by officers and removed his backpack for inspection.

Officers discovered a 12-gauge shotgun inside the backpack, along with seven shotgun shells.

Faisal AZIZ, age 20 of Beaton Way in Pickering has been charged with: Careless Carry of a Firearm; Careless Storage of a Firearm; Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm; Possession of a Prohibited Firearm Knowing Unauthorized; and Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition. He was held for a bail hearing.
