The Northumberland United Way Board of Directors announced the appointment of Bobbie Dawson to the role of Executive Director for the organization effective July 29, 2019.
“Bobbie has an extensive background in leadership experience at various United Ways throughout Ontario. She has led highly successful fundraising and engagement initiatives aimed at making communities great for everyone, and we are confident she will do the same here,” said Northumberland United Way Board Chair, Bruce McCartney. “Bobbie has a fountain of knowledge on the issues that face our community today and she is an absolute whiz when it comes to engaging people in the right way. The Board is very excited to have someone of her caliber join us in our mission at United Way.”
Dawson’s over 10 years of experience in public and not-for-profit sector leadership, working directly with health and social service community agencies, provides her exceptional knowledge on the social determinants of health and the need for United Way funded programming.
As the previous Director for Marketing & Communications for United Way Halton & Hamilton, she was integral in building highly successful teams and leading organizational change. With a Master’s degree in Communications and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Dawson is a seasoned collaborator focused on strengthening community capacity for measurable impact on social issues.
McCartney said that Dawson’s experience as a strategic communicator and her innate ability to engage people and build relationships will help to inspire others to continue to give to essential services in Northumberland County.
“I am absolutely thrilled to bring people and resources together to build a strong, healthy, and safe community for everyone,” said Dawson. “I have worked at United Ways across Ontario, but I grew up close by and have countless precious memories of spending time with family and friends in this region. Joining the Northumberland United Way team is like coming home.”
Dawson joins the organization in time to help prepare for the upcoming fundraising season that is typically launched in September of each year. She will work closely with the United Way team and the Northumberland community to drive solutions to local community issues.
