New Corporate Campus Increases Collaboration and Innovation by Consolidating Existing Locations
CLARINGTON — Minister of Energy, Northern Development and Mines Greg Rickford joined Ontario Power Generation (OPG) on Monday, June 10 to celebrate OPG’s investment in the Clarington site, with plans to build a new corporate campus by 2024. Once construction is completed, the site will accommodate OPG staff from 15 existing locations across the GTA and Niagara, bringing over 2,000 jobs to the area and driving savings for ratepayers.
The new campus will be built on an existing OPG site, adjacent to the Darlington Energy Complex and will house OPG’s corporate headquarters, as well as renewable generation and nuclear staff.
“OPG is demonstrating their commitment to cutting costs and delivering value for consumers in Ontario. Like our government, they’re putting the people of this province first,” said Minister of Energy, Northern Development and Mines Greg Rickford. “OPG’s bold plan is a critical step in securing their position as a leader in innovation and growth in our electricity sector, one that is strongly supported by the province.”
The creation of a new campus will bring expertise together to enhance collaboration and innovation, and allow increased agility across the organization. The historic plan demonstrates OPG’s commitment to cutting costs and delivering value for Ontario ratepayers by reducing OPG’s real estate costs.

Construction of the new campus is expected to begin in 2020/2021.
The consolidation of existing facilities is anticipated to save approximately 50% on annual lease costs.
OPG is a for profit government business enterprise incorporated under the Ontario Business Corporation Act (OBCA) whose sole shareholder is the province of Ontario.
Power generated by OPG meets about half of Ontario’s electricity needs.
