St. Mary Secondary School Performs Beauty and the Beast

In Editor Choice, entertainment

Students in three different classes gave a spectacular performance of Beauty and the Beast starting in June on Thursday, June 6 and ending on Saturday June 8, 2019.

The classes have been working since February, on all aspect of this production. The pit, the cast and the production team. These are all classes offered at senior level at St Mary Catholic Secondary School.

Mrs. Earle, the Artistic Director, and teacher of the production class and the cast class, says that “countless extra hours and volunteers have helped to make this show become a success.

This is a student production on all levels. A show of this magnitude also requires a little help from family and friends to make sure it gets up and running smoothly. We have volunteers in the pit, hair and makeup and back stage.

For those people who have ever been in a show before they know what kind a manpower it take to get a show off the ground.”

The audience was invited to step into the enchanted world of Disney’s classic Beauty and the Beast, featuring the songs of Menken and Rice. It tells the tale of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town and the Beast who is trapped in a spell. Can the Beast learn to love?

Will Gaston get his girl? Time will tell. Tale as old as time features many other ‘enchanting’ characters and costumes.

From all levels of the cast including Belle, played by Blyth Kelly, the Beast/Prince played by Gavin Grundy and Gaston played by Ryan Martin the performances thrilled the audiences who gave standing ovations.
