Subject: Man Arrested for Fraud

The Cobourg Police responded to a local business at around noon on May 16, 2019, after a man attempted to defraud the business out of money. After the Cobourg Police investigated, 49 year old Randy GARANT was arrested and charged for Fraud under $5000 contrary to section 380(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.
Randy GARANT was released from custody with an Appearance Notice for a court date in July, 2019 and was removed from the business.

Subject: Female Arrested for Theft

The Cobourg Police have charged a woman after responding to a report of theft at a downtown business on Thursday, May 16, 2019, at approximately 3:39 pm. Cobourg Police learned that a woman had left the business with unpaid merchandise.

As a result of the police investigation, 54 year old Mandy SALZMANN of Cobourg is charged with Theft Under $5000 contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code x2, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to section 355(b) x2, and Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code x2.

Mandy SALZMANN was released on a Promise to Appear and Officer in Charge Undertaking for a court date in July, 2019.

Subject: Man Arrested for Domestic Assault

The Cobourg Police have charged a man after responding to a 911 call from a resident near the downtown core, on Wednesday May 15, 2019, at approximately 5:30 pm.

The evidence provided to police, resulted in a man being arrested and charged for Domestic Assault contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code. The man was held for a Show Cause Hearing for May, 2019. The identity of people involved will not be released at this time.

Subject: Two People Arrested for Mischief

Two people have been charged after the Cobourg Police responded to a report of mischief at the Cobourg Marina on Thursday, May 16, 2019, at approximately 12:00 pm. A man and woman left a boat that did not belong to them, docked at the marina and then attempted to walk away from until Cobourg Police arrived.

As a result of the police investigation, 29 year old Llewellyn DOWLE and 42 year old Chad JENKINS of Cobourg are both charged with Mischief Under $5000 contrary to section 430(1)(a) of the Criminal Code. Chad JENKINS is also charged for Failing to Appear for Identification contrary to section 145(5) of the Criminal Code, and Failing to Attend Court contrary to section 154(2)(a) of the Criminal Code.

Llewelllyn DOWLE was released on a Promise to Appear and Officer in Charge Undertaking for a court date in July, 2019. Chad JENKINS was held in custody for a Show Cause hearing for May, 2019.
