Break and Enter Attempt in Brighton

On Thursday May 9, 2019 at approximately 3:30 am, members from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to Lawson Road located just east of the town of Brighton for a reported break and enter.

Officers arrived on scene and the resident reported that he woke up to the sight of a light and the suspects arm reaching through the sliding widow of his bedroom. Once the homeowner yelled the suspects arm retracted back out the window. The suspect then fled on foot westbound across Lawson Road.

Northumberland OPP officers with the assistance of the OPP Central Region Canine Unit and Emergency Response Team (ERT) conducted an extensive search of the area but the suspect was not located.
