Retiring After Forty Years On The Ice – But Never Laced Up The Skates

In Community, Local

Long time Cobourg employee Stefan (Stef) Sawicki’s last day was May 2, 2019 after over 40 years of working as an arena attendant.
Although Sawicki has been on the ice for over 40 years, he has never laced up the skates.
Sawicki worked at the Memorial Arena and at the Cobourg Community Centre on the Zamboni, but has never skated on the ice in his career.
The 65-year-old tried skating when he was a child in Toronto and didn’t like it.
For his life ahead, he plans on enjoying fishing and just taking it easy and “enjoy what’s left of life.”
