Rudd Announces Further Funding For Seniors

In Local

Cecilia Nasmith/Today’s Northumberland
Northumberland MP Kim Rudd has announced more than $40,000 in funding for seniors’ projects in Brighton and Bewdley, on the day following a similar $50,000 announcement.

Both involve New Horizons for Seniors Program grants designed to support this demographic in staying active and involved in their community. The latest announcement will help two projects go forward.

The Brighton Lawn Bowling Club will receive $25,000 to help with fitness and social-inclusion programming, and the Bewdley Legion Branch 577 will get a $16,600 boost with renovations.

Earlier this week, Rudd announced on behalf of the Honourable Filomena Tassi, Minister of Seniors, that two other projects would receive grants – $25,000 to Alderville First Nation in support of the Alderville Empowerment and Information Project for Elders and $24,300 to Northumberland 89.7 (Small Town Radio) for their Stories for the Ages programming.

Rudd’s press release noted that these projects align with the New Horizons goals of encouraging seniors to share their knowledge skills and experience while making significant and valuable contributions to their families, communities and country.
