Cobourg Police – Speeding Driver – Charged with Stunt Driving

On Sunday the 31st of March 2019, while the Cobourg Police Service conducted Traffic Enforcement in the area of Elgin St. and Chipping Park Blvd., an Officer of the Service conducted a traffic stop with a motor vehicle which had been speeding .The driver was clocked on radar at 117 KPH in a posted 50 KPH zone.

As a result of the traffic stop, the investigation revealed that the driver of the motor vehicle had also been consuming alcohol.

The driver was charged with the following offences:

Stunt Driving Contrary to sec.172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act;

Fail to Have Insurance Card, contrary to Section 3(1) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance;

Charged with the above offences, is:

Richard Anderson age 39 of Roseneath ,Ontario

The involved motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days . Anderson’s license was also automatically suspended for 7 days in regards to the stunt driving.
