Roger Gibson who is an investigator with the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office spent most of yesterday (March 27, 2019) looking for a cause of a commercial building fire that was reported shortly after 11 p.m. on March 26, 2019 in Alnwick/Haldimand Township just east of County Road 45 in Roseneath.
When fire crews arrived the rear of the two-storey building on County Road 24 was fully engulfed in flames and damage is estimated at $300,000.
Members of the Alnwick/Haldimand Township Fire Department assisted Gibbons sifting through the remains looking for any evidence.
Today’s Northumberland has also learned there was a suspicious fire in a garbage bin at a nearby school that happened earlier on the same night as the commercial building fire.
It was the third suspicious fire in the Roseneath area since March 18, 2019 and police are actively looking for information that may lead to a suspect or suspect(s). Police urge the public to call in tips on this case, or others, to the Northumberland OPP at 905-372-5421, the non-emergency line (888) 310-1122 or to Crime Stoppers.
