Cobourg Police – Man Arrested for Shoplifting

At approximately 3:23 PM on the 22nd of March 2019, members of the Cobourg Police Service attended a business in the north end of the Town of Cobourg for a report of a man shoplifting. On arrival Police spoke with a loss prevention officer at the business who indicated that he had apprehended a man outside of the store with a number of items that he did not pay for.

As a result of the investigation, 26 year old Richard Adriaans of Cobourg was arrested and charged with Theft Under $5000.00 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000.00.as well as two counts of Breach of Probation.

Adrianns was also wanted by Quinte West OPP in regards two outstanding warrants they held.

Adriaans is currently awaiting transfer to Quinte West OPP detachment to be held for a bail hearing.
