Lower Trent Conservation Welcomes New CAO

In Local

Lower Trent Conservation Board of Directors are pleased to announce that Ms. Rhonda Bateman has been hired as the new Chief Administrative Officer/Secretary Treasurer effective May 6, 2019. The position was advertised following the announcement of long-time employee Glenda Rodgers’ pending retirement. Fifty-five applications were received for this executive position.

Bateman has been the General Manager/Secretary-Treasurer at Sault Ste. Marie Region Conservation Authority since 2013.  Prior to that, she was the Drinking Water Source Protection Project Manager for the Sault Ste. Marie area. Before joining the Conservation Authority in 2005, Bateman held various positions with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.  Early in her career, she was employed in the Provincial Flood Forecasting and Warning program and later held several technical and project management positions within the Forest Management Branch.

“Ms. Bateman brings a great deal of knowledge and experience to this role,” says Jim Alyea, Chair of Lower Trent Conservation’s Board of Directors. “While we will miss the competent leadership that Glenda, our current CAO, brought to this role, we are confident in Rhonda’s ability to guide Lower Trent Conservation into the future.”

“I am pleased to accept this position at Lower Trent Conservation,” says Bateman. “And I look forward to working with staff to accomplish the priorities identified in the Strategic Plan. I hope to continue the positive working relationships between Lower Trent Conservation and its member municipalities.”

The Board would like to welcome Ms. Bateman and is looking forward to working with her in this new chapter of leadership and watershed management for the Lower Trent watershed region.
