One person was taken into custody at the scene of a collision in Cobourg on Thursday, March 7, 2019.
At approximately 11:30 p.m. emergency services were called to the area of the Marina for a report of a vehicle that had struck a tree and possibly one person unconscious.
When emergency services arrived, the three occupants of the vehicle were standing on the sidewalk.
Members of the Cobourg Fire Department extinguished a small fire in the engine area of the vehicle.
The two occupants were taken to Northumberland Hills Hospital and the driver was taken into custody at the scene and placed in the back of a Cobourg Police vehicle.
It appears the vehicle was travelling east along Third Street at a high rate of speed when it failed to negotiate a corner, mounted the curb and struck the tree.
No word on charges.
