Port Hope Police – Man Charged with Theft and Weapons Offences/Domestic Dispute

A 41 year old man is facing theft and weapons charges after police were called to the Ward Street area for a suspicious person. On the 21 of February shortly before 8:00pm a man was seen walking around the Humane Society on Ward Street with a flashlight.  Police responded to the area and located the man walking on Ward Street with a dog cage. Investigation revealed he cage belonged to the Humane Society.  The man was placed under arrest for theft.  He was further charged with possession of a weapon after Police located a sock filled with rocks. Jason Devers appears in court in March.

On the 21 of February at 11:00pm Port Hope Police responded to a 911 call to a Walton Street apartment in the Pine Street and Walton Street area after someone reported hearing a woman screaming for help. Upon arrival Police located a woman and a man. The woman was visibly in distress. Investigation revealed the couple were involved in a verbal altercation which became heated.  The man allegedly assaulted the woman after she was trying to leave the area. The man was arrested at the scene and is charged with assault and forcible confinement. He was taken to NHH to be treated for an injury he received during the altercation. No names will be released.
