The DRPS is currently investigating an incident at the Oshawa Centre in which a male secretly videotaped several women who were shopping at the mall.
On Thursday, February 14, 2019 at approximately 2:15 p.m., a male was seen recording video of several women in their 20s walking together in the mall, with his cellphone. A concerned female shopper alerted the females, who were unaware this was happening behind them.
They confronted the male, who appeared to be taking videos of their buttocks with the camera. The male erased the videos after being confronted and then fled out of the mall to a vehicle in the parking lot. At least one female followed him and took photographs in an effort to identify him.
Investigators are now looking into the matter and are working with security services at the shopping centre. Investigators are also reviewing the Feb. 14, 2019 decision by the Supreme Court to determine if criminal charges are now applicable in incidents like these.
