Minor Injuries After Vehicle Slides Off Bridge Into Creek

In Police Blotter

Shortly before 7 p.m. on January 29, 2019 emergency services were notified of a single vehicle accident on Elgin Street East by Workman Road in Cobourg.
When members of the Cobourg Fire Department arrived on scene, they observed a SUV on its side in a creek. A number of people were on the side of the vehicle speaking to the driver inside.
Firefighters spoke to the elderly male inside the vehicle who was pinned in his seat by his seatbelt.
Northumberland County Paramedics and firefighters entered the back of the SUV to extricate the driver who was taken to hospital with what are believed to be minor injuries.
The vehicle had been travelling northbound on Workman Road when it lost control, spun sideways and went over the bridge coming to rest on its side on the frozen creek.
A number of vehicles including a firetruck and police cruiser went into the ditch on January 8, 2019 in the same area due to icy road conditions.
