From the 14th of January 2019 through the 20th of January 2019, the Cobourg Police Service responded to 149 occurrences including: 10 Motor Vehicle Collisions, 17 Alarm calls, 5 Theft/Shoplifting calls, 7 Suspicious Persons/Vehicles calls, 4 Domestic/Family Disputes, 2 Mischief calls, 4 Assault calls, and 10 Mental Health calls. Here are some examples of calls for service for the week:
January 14:
· Police investigated a Break and Enter at a local business in which electronics were stolen. The investigation is ongoing.
· Police investigated a theft of a lawnmower from an unlocked shed at a private residence. Police are reminding the public to keep their residences and outbuildings locked at all times, even when at home.
January 15:
· Police investigated a motor vehicle/bicyclist motor vehicle collision on Burnham Street. No injuries occurred as a result of the collision and no charges were laid.
· Police investigated a suspicious vehicle that had been abandoned in the parking lot of a local business. The vehicle was subsequently towed from the scene.
January 16:
· A 32 year old woman was charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Assault with a weapon, and Assault police after police responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision. It was determined that the collision was intentional and the woman assaulted police during the arrest process.
· Police investigated a fraud in which the suspect stolen a personal cheque book and then preceded to cash cheques in his/her name.
January 17:
· Police investigated a theft of a bicycle from outside of a store during the daytime hours. The bicycle was not recovered. Police are advising the public to keep your property secured at all times.
· Police were requested to check on a woman after family members reported concern for her well-being. The woman was located and found to be in good health and offered support services.
January 18:
· Police recovered a vehicle that had previous been reported stolen. The vehicle was held for expert examination prior to being released to the owner.
· Police investigated after it was reported that someone had stolen the front and rear licence plates from their vehicle.
January 19:
· Police investigated a report of a missing man from a retirement home. The man was subsequently found safe and reunited with his family.
· Police investigated a mischief in which a vehicle was egged while parked in a driveway of a private residence sometime overnight.
January 20:
· Police responded to a traffic complaint after the driver of a vehicle failed to clean the snow accumulated on his/her vehicle prior to driving creating a hazard for other drivers. The driver of the vehicle was cautioned regarding his/her actions.
· Police responded to a two car motor vehicle collision on King Street West. There were no injuries and no charges were laid due to inclement weather/road conditions.
