The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) dealt with 125 incidents this past weekend, here are some examples:
December 14
· A male who resides on Megan Court in the Municipality of Brighton reported to police that his black and grey Pro Point 3000 Watt generator was stolen from his property sometime overnight.*
· A business located on Front Street in Campbellford reported a shoplifting incident that occurred on December 13, 2018. A male suspect was observed taking products off the shelves then leaving the premise without paying for them. Investigation ongoing.*
· Just before 7:00 pm officers responded to reports of an intoxicated male walking unsteadily down Elizabeth Street, in the town of Brighton. A 61 year old male from Brighton, Ontario was charged under the Liquor Licence Act with Being Intoxicated in a Public Place. The male was transported back to his residence into the care of other family members.
December 15
· Officers responded to a noise complaint at an apartment complex located on Prince Edward Street in the town of Brighton just before 9:00 pm. There have been ongoing, unreported issues with audio sound system volume levels. The tenant was spoken to and agreed to turn the volume down and to keep noise levels to a reasonable gauge.
December 16
· Officer attended the Keeler Center Arena in Cramahe Township regarding a report of a physical altercation that occurred between two male spectators during a hockey game. No charges were laid as a result of the officer’s investigation.
· Police investigated a report of a domestic dispute that occurred in Alnwick-Haldimand Township. As a result of the investigation a 39 year-old male from Alderville, Ontario was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code Offences:
- Assault (three counts)
- Mischief (two counts)
- Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the courts on date in January 2019. No names were released in order to protect the victim.
· An officer charged a 17 year-old male novice driver from Clarington Ontario under the Highway Traffic Act with Race a Motor Vehicle. The vehicle he was driving was measured travelling 182 km/h on Highway 401 in the Municipality of Port Hope just after 11:00 pm. The male had his licence suspended for seven days and the vehicle he was driving was towed and impounded for seven days. He is scheduled to appear in court on a date in February 2019.
Officers also investigated 12 accidental 911 calls/alarms, 12 motor vehicle collisions; 34 traffic related complaints and conducted 12 RIDE programs over the weekend.
