Mischief to Vehicle

A Wellington Street man reported on the 10th of November 2018 damage to his vehicle.  Sometime overnight persons(s) unknown ripped off the complainant’s side mirror to his truck. The side mirror was located a short distance away.  Damage is estimated at $100.00.

Male and female arrested on outstanding warrants

Two people were arrested shortly before 2:00am on the 10th of November after Port Hope Police identified a woman who was wanted on warrants held by Northumberland OPP. The warrants were for assault with a weapon, theft and unlawfully in a dwelling house. The man that was with the woman was also wanted for the same alleged offences.  The two were arrested as they were walking in the Mill Street/ Ontario Street area.  They were both turned over to OPP officers in order for them to be processed on the warrants.

Theft of iPhone

On the 11th of November shortly before 5:00pm Port Hope Police were called to an Ontario Street location after the complainant reported his iPhone stolen. The male had listed the new phone on KIJIJI for sale a few days prior. Someone answered the ad and made arrangements to meet at an address. The male met the complainant who asked to see the phone.  When he took the phone to look at he bolted from the address to a waiting vehicle down the street. The complainant gave chase but the man fled in a red SUV vehicle with Quebec Licence Plates. The phone was valued excess of $1000.00.

Police remind people who buy and sell on sites like KIJIJI to use caution when meeting people.  Port Hope Police are suggesting sellers or buyers to use public areas to make sales. The lobby of the local Police Station or a restaurant or coffee shop.  Bring a friend with you to the meeting place. Port Hope Police are continuing the investigation.

Provincial Cannabis Act charge laid.

A 19 year old female has been charged with having care and control of a motor vehicle with cannabis readily available. On the 13th of November shortly after 6:00pm Port Hope Police responded to an address in the Lavinia Street and Trefusis Street area after a complaint was received. Upon arrival the charged individual and others were located in a vehicle.  Police detected the odour of processed marihuana. As a result the driver was charged. The out of court settlement is $175.00.
