In Police Blotter

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – On Monday October 29, 2018 members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police received a report of a suspicious male on Hoskin Road in Alnwick-Haldimand Township.

An adult waiting near a Hoskin Road bus stop with several children at approximately 8:45 am, reported that a white passenger van with a black stripe down the side of it stopped nearby. The male driver advised the adult that the children had missed the school bus, and he offered to give the children a ride to school. When the adult waiting with the children declined the offer, the van left. .

On November 6, 2018 officers located the van and identified the male driver. Officers spoke with the male and confirmed the incident to be a misunderstanding and there is no concern for public safety.

The OPP reminds all members of the pubic to be aware of their personal safety, and that of children, at all times.
