The Highway of Heroes Adoption Four One Hundred & Fifty Eight in Honour of Major Michelle Knight Mendes Memorial will be on display at Cobourg Firehall on Tuesday, November 6, 2018.
Fire Chief Mike Vilneff said people are welcome to come to the firehall during normal business hours to view the memorial globe.
The globe was commissioned by SerViCe and SacriFice (“S”oldier, “V”eteran, “C”ivilian, honouring the “F”allen) members Cpl. Nick Kerr, Master Cpl. (retired) Collin Fitzgerald and Kerri Tadeu and was unveiled last weekend in Kingston.
Tadeu and Master Cpl. (retired) Collin Fitzgerald drove  the globe from Kingston to a Remembrance Ceremony in Oakville on Monday.
Tadeu spoke to Chief Vilneff about keeping the Memorial until Wednesday when it will be at a school Remembrance ceremony.
Vilneff said he was honoured to have the Memorial on display at the firehall for the day.
“I was amazed when they brought it out of the trailer.”
“It’s a fitting and emotional tribute in honour of our fallen.”
The Cobourg Fire Department is located at 111 Elgin Street East.
Tadeu said she is more than honoured to share the memorial with Canadians.
“The memorial resides in my hands, but the more I can put it in the hands of those who created the history of the Highway of Heroes and educate others about service and sacrifice is where it is meant to be.”
