Hundreds of Methadone Vials Found Near Creek In Cobourg

In Editor Choice, Local

Hundreds of what appear to be methadone vials were found by a walker on November 1, 2018 in between the railway tracks south of Harnden Street in Cobourg.

Methadone is used for the treatment of opioid dependence.

The walker who contacted Today’s Northumberland said, ‘I was just walking along the path and saw a blue tarp hanging.”

“I wondered what they were and I picked one up and saw the name of the person and the doctor’s name.”

Most of the vials have the name and information torn off of the vials, but a few still have some information on them.

An exacto-knife was also found amongst the debris.

The person who found them asked not to be identified but said he wondered if the vials were a bio-hazard.

It’s not exactly known how long the vials have been in the area for, but a person at the doctor’s office told Today’s Northumberland that previously a cleaner would empty the garbage into a bin.
