VIA Rail Employees Lend A Hand Or Two In Port Hope

In Community, Local

VIA Rail Canada employees were at Lent’s Lane in downtown Port Hope on Sunday, September 30, 2018, volunteering to help Critical Mass: A Centre for Contemporary Art transforming a former little train station into a creative hub for the community!
Currently celebrating its 40th anniversary, VIA Rail has launched its latest initiative: 40 sustainable actions in 40 Canadian communities.
The community actions were selected for the potential they offer in terms of long term impact and are carried out by VIA Rail employees working closely with members of communities from coast to coast. In addition to boosting employee pride, these 40 sustainable actions marking VIA’s 40th anniversary aim to help develop special ties with the communities served by VIA Rail — to give back to these communities, and to help ensure a sustainable future for the country.
Critical Mass: A Centre for Contemporary Art is a Port Hope-based not-for-profit arts organization, led by a volunteer group of curators, artists and art supporters dedicated to bringing contemporary art experiences to Port Hope.
Critical Mass invited VIA Rail employees to paint the interior of the Little Station during
Ontario Culture Days weekend, to help transform the former train station into a creative hub for Port Hope.
