Summer Rhapsody is becoming something of a tradition for Cobourg artist Betsy Miller, as she announces her second annual Summer Rhapsody show in support of the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation.
Last year, the show she hosted in her own home resulted in 18 paintings being sold – and $3,000 being donated to the foundation.
Summer Rhapsody 2018 builds on this success, with guests invited to drop in to view her extensive collection of beautiful expressionist artwork between 5 and 8 p.m. Aug. 30 – all created right here in Cobourg. With every purchase, 25% of the price will be donated to the foundation for the purchase of life-saving medical equipment.
“I am so thrilled to announce I will once again be hosting my summer soiree art show in support of the hospital,” Miller stated in the foundation press release.
“It’s a great way to combine my love of art with community.”
Originally from Montreal, Miller worked for some time in the banking industry before deciding to pursue her life-long passion for design and colour. Following completion of the Fine Arts Certificate program at Oakville’s Sheridan College in 2010, she began to develop her unique contemporary expressionistic painting style. She continued this pursuit after moving to Cobourg in 2011.
Miller specializes in highly original textured work in acrylic on canvas and wood, with no plan made and no reference used. The work continues to evolve in exciting new directions, and a Summer Rhapsody 2018 visit is a wonderful opportunity to observe the shape it is taking.
The studio is located at 875 Carlisle St.
For those unable to attend the Aug. 30 reception, Miller welcomes private tours between now and Aug. 31. To make an appointment for a private viewing, call her at 905-373-7039.
