Ongoing Investigation

The Peterborough Police are investigating an incident that occurred over night at a Stewart Street address. Police are holding a scene while the investigation continues. Police are not releasing any further information at this time to protect the integrity of the investigation. There is no threat to public safety.

Lone Loss Prevention Officer confronts four Thieves

Four people have been charged with several offences after an incident at a Chemong Road business.

On July 5, 2018 a loss prevention officer at a Chemong Road business confronted four alleged shoplifters. When the four were confronted they all fled in different directions. Security pursued the group and was about to apprehend one of the suspects when they turned and sprayed him with silly spray. The pursuit continued for a distance until one of the suspects pulled a knife out, confronted the loss prevention officer and threatened to kill him.

Several uniform police officers flooded the area and were able to track down and arrest all the suspects.

As a result of the investigation the following persons were arrested and charged:

  • Laney Smith, 25 of Park Street Peterborough was charged with Assault.
  • Jameson Ferguson, 20 of Park Street Peterborough was charged with Theft Under $5000.00.
  • Cassandra Quigley-Solinski, 23 of Dalhousie Street, Peterborough was charged with Theft Under $5000.00.
  • Jacob Nastuk, 26 was charged with Uttering Threats and Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose.

All four were released and are to appear in court on July 25, 2018.
