Backyard Party Raises Over $11,000 For Cornerstone

In Community, Local

Northumberland County – Nestled in Port Hope on a sunny Thursday afternoon, local Chestnut Park Real Estate Realtor, Fionna Barrington, hosted her 2nd cocktail party at her home in support of Cornerstone Family Violence Prevention Center. Barrington’s event raised over $11,000 to provide shelter to women, children and youth who have been impacted by family violence or abuse.

Barrington, who hosted her first event in 2017, encouraged her 30+ guests to donate while engaging in an afternoon of chilled wine, fun, and friends resulting in tremendous success; with the funds raised Cornerstone will be able to provide approximately 89 nights of shelter.
“I know there is a high demand for an organization such as Cornerstone in our community; supporting the crucial work that they do in helping women and children in crisis, transition to a safe and independent life is really important,” says Barrington. “Having the women in our community come out and support other women in such a generous way was truly amazing. I look forward to helping in any way I can in the future,” adds Barrington.
“Each year we strive to help as many women and children as possible and receiving support from the community enables us to continue providing immediate shelter within our county and to carry out our mission to break the cycle of family violence,” says Nancy Johnston, Executive Director. “People like Fionna who are willing to put the time into organizing something like this are truly making a difference for us. We are grateful to Fionna, and her guests, for making this event such a success,” adds Johnston.
