Peterborough Police – Drug Arrests/Impaired Arrest

Drug Arrests:

Two Peterborough men are facing several charges following a search warrant at a Braidwood Avenue home where members of the Drug Unit located and seized items including fentanyl, cocaine and heroin.

As a result of an ongoing investigation by the Peterborough Police Service’s Intelligence, Crime Analyst, Asset Forfeiture and Drug (ICAD) Unit on June 20, 2018 members of the Peterborough Police Service’s Emergency Response Team conducted a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at a Braidwood Avenue home.

During the search warrant officers located and seized items including the following:

  • 3 grams of cocaine
  • 23 grams of heroin/fentanyl
  • 8 grams of marijuana
  • Oxycocet pills
  • Approximately $2,143 in Canadian currency
  • Round of ammunition
  • Weigh scale

As a result of the search warrant the following persons were arrested and charged:

Leroy Bennett, 57, of Braidwood Avenue, is charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (Heroin)
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (Fentanyl)
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (Cocaine)
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (Hydromorphine)
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (Oxycocet)
  • Possession of a schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking (Marijuana under 30grams)
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition (ammunition)

 

Raheem Smalling, 24, of Romaine Street, is charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (Heroin)
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (Fentanyl)
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

During the search warrant officers also located a large quantity of stolen property. The investigation is ongoing.

Both accused were held in custody and are scheduled to appear in court later today (June 21).

 

Impaired/Drug Arrest:

A 29-year-old Toronto man is facing drug and impaired driving charges following a traffic stop earlier in June.

On June 4, 2018 at approximately 9:15 p.m. an officer on patrol observed a truck driving in excess of the speed limit in the area of Parkhill Road and conducted a traffic stop. While speaking with the male driver of the vehicle officers noted an odour of an alcoholic beverage coming from the driver’s breath.

A subsequent breath test revealed the driver had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system while operating a motor vehicle. During the investigation the driver was found to be in possession of a quantity of cocaine.

As a result of the investigation Lawrence Raymond Titus, 29, of Annette Street, Toronto, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance (Cocaine)
  • Impaired driving
  • Operating a motor vehicle with more than 80mgs alcohol in blood

The accused was also served a 90 day automatic drivers licence suspension and a seven day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on June 28, 2018
