Impaired Arrest:
A 21-year-old Millbrook man is facing charges including impaired driving following an incident earlier in May.
Shortly after 2:30 a.m. on May 20, 2018 police received a call regarding a truck that had spun out on Lansdowne Street at George Street and had come to rest on a sidewalk.
Officers arrived on scene and located the truck on the sidewalk. While speaking with the driver of the vehicle officers noted an odour of an alcoholic beverage coming from the driver’s breath.
Based on the investigation the male was arrested for impaired driving. When a breath demand was made the driver refused to provide a breath sample.
As a result of the investigation Jeffrey Quackenbush, 21, of King Street, Millbrook, is charged with the following:
- Impaired driving
- Fail or refuse to provide a breath sample
- Fail to comply with a probation order
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on June 21, 2018.
Sexual assault Arrest:
The Peterborough Police Service has arrested and charged a 16-year-old teen with sexual assault following an investigation.
On the night of May 25, 2018 the accused and the victim, a teenage female, were at a Peterborough address where the victim was sexually assaulted. The accused and the victim know each other and were in a previous domestic relationship before that relationship came to an end.
The incident was reported to police and officers investigated. As a result of the investigation on May 26, 2018 officers attended a Peterborough residence where the accused was arrested and charged with sexual assault.
The youth was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on June 18, 2018.
Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act the name of a young person cannot be released.
Theft Arrests:
Three Peterborough teens are facing charges including theft and mischief after damaging a parked vehicle and stealing items from another parked vehicle.
At approximately 12:20 a.m. on May 26, 2018 police received a call from a concerned citizen regarding three suspicious youths that were damaging a vehicle parked in a lot on Roger Neilson Way. Damage to the vehicle is estimated at approximately $4,000. The youths then began to go through backyards and into a Jane Street parking lot where police received another call regarding the youths attempting to go through the vehicles parked in the lot.
Officers were dispatched to the area where they saw the three suspicious youths inside a van. When officers approached the van the males fled on foot. All three males were located and arrested a short time later. During the investigation all three males were found to be in possession of marijuana.
As a result of the investigation the following persons were arrested and charged:
17 year-old Peterborough male:
- Possession of a schedule II substance (Marijuana under 30grams)
- Theft under $5,000 from a motor vehicle
- Mischief under $5,000
16-year-old Peterborough male:
- Possession of a schedule II substance (Marijuana under 30grams)
- Theft under $5,000 from a motor vehicle
- Mischief under $5,000
16-year-old Peterborough male:
- Possession of a schedule II substance (Marijuana under 30grams)
- Theft under $5,000 from a motor vehicle
- Mischief under $5,000
All three youth appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on May 26, 2018.
Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act the name of a young person cannot be released.
Drug Arrest:
An Oshawa man is facing charges after suspected Fentanyl and heroin were located inside a vehicle during a K9 drug search.
Shortly after 3 p.m. on May 23, 2018 police received a call regarding a man who was in the drive-thru line at a Lansdowne Street East restaurant and acting erratically.
Officers arrived on scene and located the male suspected in a vehicle parked in the lot. Through a subsequent vehicle search done by the K9 Unit a Police Service Dog located a quantity of suspected fentanyl, heroin and Percocet inside the vehicle.
As a result of the investigation Kyle James Sears, 28, of Glen Street, Oshawa, was arrested and charged with the following:
- Possession of a schedule I substance (Heroin/Fentanyl)
- Possession of a schedule I substance (Percocet)
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on June 7, 2018.
Assault Arrest:
A 23-year-old Peterborough resident has been charged after a staff member at a local drop-in centre was assaulted.
On the evening of May 26, 2018 the accused became involved in an argument with two other individuals at a Brock Street drop-in centre. The accused was asked by staff to leave the centre at which point the staff member was assaulted. The accused then left the area. Police were called and attended. Officers located the accused later that same evening walking in the area of Aylmer and Brock Streets.
As a result of the investigation Karyna Carruthers, 23, of Brock Street, was arrested and charged with assault and fail to comply with a probation order.The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on June 28, 2018.
Stolen Vehicle:
The Peterborough Police Service is investigating after a vehicle was stolen from the driveway of a Glendale Drive residence in the City.
The theft took place sometime between 10:30 p.m. on May 26, 2018 and 6 a.m. on May 27, 2018. The vehicle is a brown, four-door 2007 Toyota Camry Ontario Licence Plate AJTR838.
The Peterborough Police Service reminds all residents to double and triple check to make sure all vehicle doors are locked and secured.

Break-in: Westcott Street business
The Peterborough Police Service is asking anyone with information to come forward following a break-in to a Westcott Street business.
The break-in took place sometime between 2 p.m. on May 26, 2018 and 9:30 a.m. on May 27, 2018. During the incident a quantity of cash and hair products were stolen.

Break-in: George Street North restaurant
The Peterborough Police Service is investigating following a break-in at a George Street North restaurant.
On May 26, 2018 at approximately 4:10 a.m. police responded to an alarm call at a George Street North restaurant. During the incident unknown person(s) smashed in the front door to the business and once inside stole a quantity of cash.
