City of Kawartha Lakes OPP Media Release – E-bike Driver Charged

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) –  This weekend officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to approximately 120 calls for service.

On Saturday May 26, 2018 at approximately 7:45pm officers responded in Fenelon Falls to a traffic complaint involving an e-bike. The driver, 43 year old Jeffrey JOHNSTON of Lindsay, was located and following an investigation was arrested and charged with Driving With More Than 80 mg of Alcohol in 100 ml of Blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC). The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on June 21, 2018.

Following an investigation, on Saturday May 26, 2018, 60 year old Murray WALKER of Brampton, was arrested and charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) CCC. The investigation co mmenced when a complaint was received that stolen property was being resold through a Kawartha Lakes business. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on June 14, 2018.
