Transport Rollover Shuts Down All Westbound Lanes of Highway 401 West of Cobourg

In Editor Choice, Local

All lanes of Highway 401 westbound were closed after a fully loaded transport of candy flipped over approximately two kilometres west of Cobourg (Burnham Street) at approximately 1:20 a.m. on Wednesday, May 2, 2018. Emergency crews from Cobourg Fire Department and Hamilton Township Fire Department helped the driver from the cab of the transport and he was taken to hospital by Northumberland County Paramedics with minor injuries.
Westbound traffic was re-directed north of Cobourg.
Crews from Chadwick’s Towing worked to remove the transport to the side of the road to try and open up at least one of the lanes for traffic.
The frame of the trailer was compromised in the rollover.
