Northumberland 89.7 FM And The Gallery Shop in Port Hope To Merge

In Community

The Gallery Shop in Port Hope lives on as part of Northumberland 89.7 FM announced Barry Walker, chair of Northumberland 89.7 FM, and Joan Tooke, manager of The Gallery Shop.

“The Gallery Shop operating at 8 Queen St as part of the Art Gallery of Northumberland will join Northumberland 89.7 FM effective May 1, 2018,” said Walker. The Gallery Shop has been associated with the Art Gallery of Northumberland since 1998, but that relationship will be officially terminated as of April 30, 2018.

“The Shop will continue to operate as it has for the last 20 years, with the help of a large, enthusiastic complement of volunteers,” declared Tooke. “We are especially delighted with our new partnership as without this arrangement with Northumberland 89.7 FM, the shop would have been closed.”

“The Board of Directors and volunteers of Northumberland 89.7 FM, a not-for-profit organization, are proud to be associated with the Shop, an integral part of the Port Hope downtown landscape, continued Walker.

“The new Northumberland Arts, Gallery and Shop at 8 Queen Street will continue to be a destination for those seeking outstanding work from the talented artists and craftspeople in Northumberland County and beyond,” said Tooke.

A formal agreement is expected to be finalized within the next few days.
