Members of the Port Hope Fire Department responded to a camper fire on County Road 10 north of Canton on Tuesday morning shortly before noon. When they arrived heavy smoke was coming from the trailer that was parked in a driveway.
Crews extinguished the blaze, but the camper was destroyed.
Port Hope Fire Department Deputy Chief Reno Levesque said the fire was started accidentally.
