Suspect Arrested after Gas Station Robbery

An 18-year-old male faces charges after an armed robbery at a gas station in Whitby overnight.

On Friday, February 16, 2018, at approximately 12:20 a.m., members of Central West responded to the Husky gas station on Rossland Road and Thickson Road in Whitby after reports of an armed robbery. A lone male entered the gas station armed with a handgun and made a demand for cash. The male took cash and cigarettes and fled on foot. Officers responded quickly and arrested the suspect nearby.

The employee didn’t suffer any physical injuries.

Justin SMITH, age 18 of no fixed address is charged with: Robbery; Disguise With Intent; Weapons Dangerous; Fail to Comply with Recognizance x2 and Possession of a Prohibited Weapon. He was held for a bail hearing.
