Beavers Like The Water But Not The Waves

In Editor Choice, Local, Photo Gallery, Weather

Beavers like the water. But on Monday, October 12, 2020 Today’s Northumberland found out they don’t necessarily like the waves.

Nawautin Nature Sanctuary is south of Grafton and traditionally a good spot for taking photographs of wildlife.

A dam has been built by beavers approximately seven metres north of Lake Ontario.

Late in the afternoon on Monday, a beaver approached the dam, actually climbed over it and continued downstream, looking like it wanted to check out the waters of Lake Ontario.

But after getting swept back by two high waves, that seemed to be enough for the beaver who headed north again, but not before grabbing a stick and adding it to the dam.
